  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to public employees; requiring

  3         an employee who is a member of the Legislature

  4         to take unpaid leave for time away from

  5         employment while on legislative business;

  6         defining the term "public employee"; providing

  7         an effective date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10  

11         Section 1.  Public employees required to take unpaid

12  leave while on legislative business.--A public employee who is

13  a member of the Legislature must take unpaid administrative

14  leave for any period of time away from his or her place of

15  employment due to legislative duties and responsibilities. As

16  used in this section, the term "public employee" means an

17  employee of this state or of a regional, local, or municipal

18  government entity of this state, including all political

19  subdivisions of this state and any public school, community

20  college, or state university.

21         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

22  law.
