  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to tourism; amending s.

  3         288.1223, F.S.; revising the membership of the

  4         Florida Commission on Tourism; amending s.

  5         288.1226, F.S.; revising the membership of the

  6         board of directors of the Florida Tourism

  7         Industry Marketing Corporation, to conform;

  8         providing an effective date.

10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11  

12         Section 1.  Paragraph (a) of subsection (2) of section

13  288.1223, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:

14         288.1223  Florida Commission on Tourism; creation;

15  purpose; membership.--

16         (2)(a)  The commission shall consist of 17 general

17  tourism-industry-related members appointed by the Governor,

18  subject to confirmation by the Senate, and 14 11 additional

19  tourism-industry-related members, appointed by the Governor,

20  including 3 representatives from the statewide rental car

21  industry, 4 3 representatives from tourist-related statewide

22  associations, including those that represent hotels,

23  campgrounds, county destination marketing organizations, and

24  attractions, 2 3 representatives from county destination

25  marketing organizations, 1 representative from the cruise

26  industry, 1 representative from an automobile and travel

27  services membership organization that has at least 2.8 million

28  members in Florida, and 1 representative from the airline

29  industry, 1 representative from the youth travel industry, and

30  1 representative from the space tourism industry, who will

31  each serve for a term of 2 years, the Governor, and 2

 1  additional ex officio members, who will serve for a term of 2

 2  years, including a member of the Senate appointed by the

 3  President of the Senate and a member of the House of

 4  Representatives appointed by the Speaker of the House of

 5  Representatives.

 6         Section 2.  Subsection (4) of section 288.1226, Florida

 7  Statutes, is amended to read:

 8         288.1226  Florida Tourism Industry Marketing

 9  Corporation; use of property; board of directors; duties;

10  audit.--

11         (4)  BOARD OF DIRECTORS.--The board of directors of the

12  corporation shall be composed of 31 28

13  tourism-industry-related members, appointed by the Florida

14  Commission on Tourism from its own membership.  The vice chair

15  of the commission shall serve as chair of the corporation's

16  board of directors.

17         Section 3.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

18  law.

20          STATEMENT OF SUBSTANTIAL CHANGES CONTAINED IN
                       COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR
21                         Senate Bill 262

23  The committee substitute incorporates amendments that were
    adopted in both the Commerce and Military and Veterans'
24  Affairs Committees.  As such, the Tourism Commission
    membership is increased by one by adding a representative from
25  an automobile and travel services organization that has at
    least 2.8 million members in Florida.  The other resulting
26  change is adding a representative of a statewide association
    representing county destination marketing organizations and
27  reducing the actual number of members from county destination
    marketing organizations.
