1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to bridge designation;
3 designating the Skypass Bridge in the City of
4 Riviera Beach as the "L. E. Buie Bridge";
5 directing the Department of Transportation to
6 erect suitable markers; providing an effective
7 date.

9 WHEREAS, Louise E. Buie, a resident of Riviera Beach
10 since 1961, has been a tireless champion of equal rights, and
11 WHEREAS, Louise E. Buie has been a strong community
12 leader and has held several leadership positions in the NAACP
13 and the Palm Beach Voters League, and
14 WHEREAS, Louise E. Buie was instrumental in opening
15 public facilities to all on an equal basis from Riviera Beach
16 to Miami, and
17 WHEREAS, Louise E. Buie has participated in many
18 civil-rights marches, locally, statewide, and nationally,
19 including the March on Washington in 1963, and
20 WHEREAS, Louise E. Buie is a role model for dedication
21 to family, community, and helping others, NOW, THEREFORE,
22
23 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

25 Section 1. L. E. Buie Bridge designated; department to
26 erect suitable markers.--
27 (1) The Skypass Bridge (bridge number 930470) in the
28 City of Riviera Beach in Palm Beach County is designated as
29 "L. E. Buie Bridge."

1 (2) The Department of Transportation is directed to
2 erect suitable markers designating the L. E. Buie Bridge as
3 described in subsection (1).
4 Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a
5 law.
