| 5 | WHEREAS, Miami-Dade County is a center of world finance, |
| 6 | with many financial institutions and foreign agencies within its |
| 7 | boundaries, and |
| 8 | WHEREAS, Greater Miami-Dade County is the site of |
| 9 | approximately 50 foreign consulates and numerous international |
| 10 | trade offices and bi-national Chambers of Commerce, and |
| 11 | WHEREAS, the film and television industry has made Miami- |
| 12 | Dade County one of the largest production centers in the nation, |
| 13 | and |
| 14 | WHEREAS, agriculture continues to provide significant |
| 15 | economic activity, and the industry has diversified such that |
| 16 | Miami-Dade County is one of the largest producers in the United |
| 17 | States of tropical fruits, ornamental plants, and fish, and |
| 18 | WHEREAS, Miami-Dade County is experiencing a cultural boom |
| 19 | in world-class entertainment and cultural activities, which is |
| 20 | evidenced by the nonprofit cultural organizations offering |
| 21 | dance, theater, music, and visual arts, and festivals and |
| 22 | special events, and |
| 23 | WHEREAS, the Miami-Dade community is a microcosm of the |
| 24 | world, in the number of countries represented, languages spoken |
| 25 | daily, and languages taught in the community's schools, and is a |
| 26 | hub from which nonstop flights take passengers to Latin America |
| 27 | and the Caribbean, and at which trade flourishes in the |
| 28 | continental United States port located closest to Africa, and |
| 29 | WHEREAS, it can be no overstatement that today Miami-Dade |
| 30 | County is recognized as one of the world's most diverse, most |
| 31 | exciting communities and is aptly referred to as the "Gateway of |
| 32 | the Americas," NOW, THEREFORE, |

| 35 | Florida: |

| 37 | That the House of Representatives is pleased to recognize |
| 38 | Wednesday and Thursday, March 31 and April 1, 2004, as "Miami- |
| 39 | Dade County Days." |
