1	House Resolution
2	A resolution commending the Florida Marlins, 2003 World
3	Series Champions.

5	WHEREAS, the Florida Marlins made their debut in the City
6	of Miami, Miami-Dade County, and the entire Miami area 11 years
7	ago, and
8	WHEREAS, the Marlins have subsequently recruited a
9	substantial number of outstanding players and coaches, achieving
10	their first National League Championship against the Atlanta
11	Braves before going on to win their first World Series
12	Championship against the Cleveland Indians in 1997, and
13	WHEREAS, the 2003 Florida Marlins won the National League
14	Division Series by defeating the San Francisco Giants on October
15	4, 2003, in three games out of four, then, having united South
16	Florida in its support of the "Never-Say-Die Marlins," defeated
17	the Chicago Cubs in the seventh game by coming from behind to
18	win the final three games of the series, and
19	WHEREAS, on October 25, 2003, the Marlins outscored the New
20	York Yankees 2-0 and became the first team to eliminate the
21	Yankees in Yankee Stadium in the playoffs since 1981, and
22	WHEREAS, with that victory, the Florida Marlins won the
23	World Series to become the 2003 World Series Champions, NOW,
24	THEREFORE,

26	Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
27	Florida:

29	That the House of Representatives salutes the Florida
30	Marlins for winning the World Series and becoming the 2003 World
31	Series Champions; for igniting, inspiring, and uniting South
32	Florida; and for focusing the eyes of the world on the Miami
33	area.
34	BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
35	presented to the Florida Marlins as a tangible token of the
36	sentiments expressed herein.
