| 10 | the department to provide public electronic access to |
| 11 | school district policies; encouraging public input; |
| 12 | specifying content of staff development for physical |
| 13 | education instructors; providing an effective date. |

| 15 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |
| 16 |
|
| 17 | Section 1. Subsections (4) and (5) are added to section |
| 18 | 1003.455, Florida Statutes, to read: |
| 19 | 1003.455 Physical education; assessment.-- |
| 20 | (4) By July 1, 2006, each school district shall submit to |
| 21 | the Department of Education a copy of the wellness policy |
| 22 | required by the Child Nutrition and WIC Reauthorization Act of |
| 23 | 2004. The department shall provide for public electronic access |
| 24 | to the school district policies so they may be reviewed and |
| 25 | shared. School districts are encouraged to regularly solicit |
| 26 | public input regarding their policies on school nutritional |
| 27 | offerings and physical activity/fitness offerings. |
| 28 | (5) Staff development for physical education instructors |
| 29 | must include content related to an integrated curriculum that |
| 30 | supports classroom learning, particularly in the areas of |
| 31 | reading and mathematics, fitness-based instruction, and |
| 32 | connections between movement and learning. |
| 33 | Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law. |
