  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to elections; creating s.

  3         98.485, F.S.; requiring each county supervisor

  4         of elections to submit to the district school

  5         board a calendar of election dates; requiring

  6         scheduled days to coincide with election dates

  7         and schools to be made available as polling

  8         places; requiring timely notification;

  9         providing an effective date.

11  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

13         Section 1.  Section 98.485, Florida Statutes, is

14  created to read:

15         98.485  Election dates.--The supervisor of elections in

16  each county shall submit to the respective district school

17  board a calendar of election dates. Based on the submission of

18  such information, each district school board shall schedule

19  days to coincide with primary and general election dates and

20  make its schools available as polling places. The supervisor

21  of elections shall coordinate with the district school board

22  to ensure that the district school board is notified in a

23  timely manner for purposes of planning for the school year.

24         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2005.
