A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to nurse registries; amending s. 400.506,
3F.S.; requiring a nurse registry to provide information
4regarding additional visits by registered nurses and the
5cost thereof; providing an effective date.

7Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

9     Section 1.  Paragraph (c) of subsection (10) of section
10400.506, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:
11     400.506  Licensure of nurse registries; requirements;
12penalties.--

14     (c)  When a certified nursing assistant or home health aide
15is referred to a patient's home by a nurse registry, the nurse
16registry shall advise the patient, the patient's family, or a
17person acting on behalf of the patient at the time of
18contracting for services through the nurse registry of the
19availability of registered nurses to visit the patient's home at
20an additional cost. A registered nurse shall make monthly visits
21to the patient's home to assess the patient's condition and
22quality of care being provided by the certified nursing
23assistant or home health aide. Any condition which in the
24professional judgment of the nurse requires further medical
25attention shall be reported to the attending physician and the
26nurse registry. The assessment shall become a part of the
27patient's file with the nurse registry and may be reviewed by
28the agency during their survey procedure.
29     Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2005.
