| 1 | A bill to be entitled | 
| 2 | An act relating to outdoor advertising; creating s.  | 
| 3 | 479.157, F.S.; authorizing the repair or reconstruction of  | 
| 4 | any lawful nonconforming sign damaged or destroyed by a  | 
| 5 | major or catastrophic disaster, notwithstanding any  | 
| 6 | statute, ordinance, rule, or regulation to the contrary,  | 
| 7 | provided that the repair or reconstruction is in  | 
| 8 | compliance with the Florida Building Code; providing an  | 
| 9 | effective date. |

| 11 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: | 
| 12 | 
  | 
| 13 |      Section 1.  Section 479.157, Florida Statutes, is created  | 
| 14 | to read: | 
| 15 |      479.157  Repair or reconstruction of nonconforming signs  | 
| 16 | damaged or destroyed by major or catastrophic  | 
| 17 | disaster.--Notwithstanding the provisions of s. 479.155 or any  | 
| 18 | other statute, ordinance, rule, or regulation to the contrary,  | 
| 19 | the owner or lessee of any lawful nonconforming sign damaged or  | 
| 20 | destroyed by a major or catastrophic disaster, as defined in s.  | 
| 21 | 252.34(1), may repair or reconstruct such lawful nonconforming  | 
| 22 | sign, provided that the repair or reconstruction is in  | 
| 23 | compliance with the construction standards set forth in the  | 
| 24 | Florida Building Code. | 
| 25 |      Section 2.  This act shall take upon becoming a law. |
