1	A bill to be entitled
2	An act relating to outdoor advertising; creating s.
3	479.157, F.S.; authorizing the repair or reconstruction of
4	any lawful nonconforming sign damaged or destroyed by a
5	major or catastrophic disaster, notwithstanding any
6	statute, ordinance, rule, or regulation to the contrary,
7	provided that the repair or reconstruction is in
8	compliance with the Florida Building Code; providing an
9	effective date.

11	Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

13	Section 1.  Section 479.157, Florida Statutes, is created
14	to read:
15	479.157  Repair or reconstruction of nonconforming signs
16	damaged or destroyed by major or catastrophic
17	disaster.--Notwithstanding the provisions of s. 479.155 or any
18	other statute, ordinance, rule, or regulation to the contrary,
19	the owner or lessee of any lawful nonconforming sign damaged or
20	destroyed by a major or catastrophic disaster, as defined in s.
21	252.34(1), may repair or reconstruct such lawful nonconforming
22	sign, provided that the repair or reconstruction is in
23	compliance with the construction standards set forth in the
24	Florida Building Code.
25	Section 2.  This act shall take upon becoming a law.
