11  The Committee on Education (Klein) recommended the following
12  amendment:

14         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 
15         On page 32, line 22, through
16            page 33, line 4, delete those lines
17  
18  and insert:  
19         (g)  A charter school shall provide for an annual
20  financial audit in accordance with s. 218.39. The governing
21  board shall be responsible for:
22         1.  Hiring an independent certified public accountant
23  for the annual financial audit who shall report to the
24  governing board the audit report;
25         2.  Reviewing and approving the audit report, including
26  the audit findings and recommendations for corrective action;
27  and
28         3.  Monitoring the corrective-action plan in order to
29  ensure compliance within the next fiscal year.

31  The consequences for the failure of a school to comply with an

 1  audit finding shall be based upon the nature of the audit
 2  finding. The consequences may range from timely implementation
 3  of a financial-recovery plan to nonrenewal or termination of
 4  the charter agreement.
