15         On page 62, between lines 28 and 29,

17  insert:  
18         Section 8.  Charter School Task Force.--
19         (1)  The Charter School Task Force is established to
20  review and make recommendations regarding charter schools in
21  this state.
22         (2)  The task force shall, at a minimum:
23         (a)  Review current application and sponsorship
24  procedures used throughout the state for the approval of
25  charter schools.
26         (b)  Examine the sponsorship and organizational
27  structure of charter schools in other states.
28         (c)  Investigate alternative means available in this
29  state to implement changes in the sponsorship of the charter
30  schools, including the state's statutory and constitutional
31  framework.

Florida Senate - 2005 COMMITTEE AMENDMENT Bill No. CS for SB 1710 Barcode 814666 1 (d) Review capital-outlay funding for charter schools. 2 (e) Conduct meetings throughout the state to receive 3 public input and consider policy recommendations on issues 4 related to charter schools. 5 (f) Issue a final report and recommendations by 6 December 31, 2005, to the Governor, the President of the 7 Senate, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives. 8 (3) The task force shall consist of: 9 (a) Up to four members of the Senate appointed by the 10 President of the Senate. 11 (b) Up to four members of the House of Representatives 12 appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives. 13 (c) Up to five charter school stakeholders appointed 14 by the Governor, one of whom may be the Commissioner of 15 Education or his designee. 16 17 Task force members shall serve without compensation but are 18 entitled to reimbursement pursuant to section 112.061, Florida 19 Statutes, for per diem and travel expenses incurred in the 20 performance of their official duties. The Governor shall 21 appoint the chair of the task force from among the members who 22 are elected officers.
