  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to clinical laboratories;

  3         amending s. 483.041, F.S.; redefining the term

  4         "licensed practitioner" to authorize a

  5         psychologist, licensed under ch. 490, F.S., to

  6         request the services of a clinical laboratory

  7         licensed under part I of ch. 483, F.S.;

  8         providing an effective date.

10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11  

12         Section 1.  Subsection (7) of section 483.041, Florida

13  Statutes, is amended to read:

14         483.041  Definitions.--As used in this part, the term:

15         (7)  "Licensed practitioner" means a physician licensed

16  under chapter 458, chapter 459, chapter 460, or chapter 461; a

17  dentist licensed under chapter 466; a person licensed under

18  chapter 462; or an advanced registered nurse practitioner

19  licensed under part I of chapter 464; a person licensed under

20  chapter 490; or a duly licensed practitioner from another

21  state licensed under similar statutes who orders examinations

22  on materials or specimens for nonresidents of the State of

23  Florida, but who reside in the same state as the requesting

24  licensed practitioner.

25         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2005.

29    Defines a licensed practitioner for the purpose of
      clinical laboratories as a psychologist who is licensed
30    under ch. 490, F.S.
