11  The Committee on Health Care (Jones) recommended the following
12  amendment:

14         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 
15         On page 4, between lines 8 and 9,

17  insert:  
18         Section 2.  Paragraph (f) of subsection (4) of section
19  381.0405, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:
20         381.0405  Office of Rural Health.--
21         (4)  COORDINATION.--The office shall:
22         (f)  Assume responsibility for state coordination of
23  the Rural Hospital Transition Grant Program, the Essential
24  Access Community Hospital Program, and other federal rural
25  hospital and rural health care grant programs.
26         Section 3.  Section 381.0409, Florida Statutes, is
27  created to read:
28         381.0409  Coordination with federal health professional
29  recruitment and placement programs.--The department may
30  coordinate with the Federal Government to designate health
31  professional shortage areas and medically underserved areas,

 1  to recommend foreign physicians for visa waivers, to document
 2  health professionals working in the public interest, and to
 3  place health care professionals in medically underserved areas
 4  using federally funded recruitment incentive programs.

11         On page 1, line 19, after the semicolon,

13  insert:
14         amending s. 381.0405, F.S.; providing that the
15         Office of Rural Health is responsible for state
16         coordination of federal rural hospital and
17         rural health care grant programs; deleting
18         obsolete provisions; creating s. 381.0409,
19         F.S.; authorizing the Department of Health to
20         coordinate with the Federal Government in
21         carrying out certain activities relating to the
22         recruitment and placement of health
23         practitioners in medically underserved areas;
