| 6 | WHEREAS, as the result of an exemplary spirit of |
| 7 | cooperation and unity among the residents of the City of |
| 8 | Sunshine Beach, the City of Treasure Island, the Town of Boca |
| 9 | Ciega, and the Town of Sunset Beach, on May 3, 1955, by special |
| 10 | act of the Legislature, four island communities became one, to |
| 11 | be known as the City of Treasure Island, and |
| 12 | WHEREAS, with much the same exuberance that greeted the |
| 13 | birth of the City of Treasure Island in 1955, its residents this |
| 14 | half-century later look forward with great anticipation to the |
| 15 | city's month-long "T.I. Five-O Celebration" of its |
| 16 | incorporation, and |
| 17 | WHEREAS, in between the 7-hour kickoff Rock Around the |
| 18 | Clock party in downtown Treasure Island on May 7 and the Sun, |
| 19 | Sand & Symphony concert scheduled for May 27 and 28, residents |
| 20 | and visitors alike may enjoy a variety of events, including |
| 21 | Movies in the Park, the Treasure Bay Golf and Tennis Tournament, |
| 22 | the Armed Forces Day Fishing Tournament, the "PotluckPalooza," |
| 23 | and the Treasure Island Home Show, and |
| 24 | WHEREAS, the scheduling of May 2005 as a time of observance |
| 25 | of the 50th anniversary month of the City of Treasure Island |
| 26 | affords the city's residents, officials, and guests an |
| 27 | opportunity in which to express their delight in and gratitude |
| 28 | for the privilege of living, working, and visiting in the "Jewel |
| 29 | of the Gulf Beaches," NOW, THEREFORE, |

| 31 | Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of |
| 32 | Florida: |

| 34 | That the House of Representatives recognizes May 3, 2005, |
| 35 | as the 50th anniversary of the incorporation of the City of |
| 36 | Treasure Island and extends its congratulations and best wishes |
| 37 | to all who take joy in the observance of this milestone in the |
| 38 | city's history. |
| 39 | BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be |
| 40 | presented to Mary H. Maloof, Mayor of the City of Treasure |
| 41 | Island, as a tangible token of the sentiments expressed herein. |
