| 2 | A resolution recognizing RESPECT of Florida for promoting  | 
| 3 | quality jobs for Floridians with disabilities. | 
| 4 | 
  | 
| 5 |      WHEREAS, it is the policy of the State of Florida to  | 
| 6 | encourage and assist individuals with disabilities, including  | 
| 7 | those with severe disabilities, to achieve maximum personal  | 
| 8 | independence through useful and productive employment, thus  | 
| 9 | enhancing their dignity and minimizing their dependence on  | 
| 10 | public support, and | 
| 11 |      WHEREAS, more than 70 percent of individuals in Florida  | 
| 12 | with disabilities, including individuals with severe  | 
| 13 | disabilities, are unemployed, and | 
| 14 |      WHEREAS, for more than 30 years, RESPECT of Florida has  | 
| 15 | provided thousands of jobs for individuals whose disabilities  | 
| 16 | range from relatively mild to severe, and | 
| 17 |      WHEREAS, RESPECT of Florida creates industries that  | 
| 18 | contribute to the economies of local communities in the state,  | 
| 19 | and | 
| 20 |      WHEREAS, RESPECT of Florida provides a valuable service to  | 
| 21 | the state and is a nationally recognized model program for  | 
| 22 | providing employment for persons with severe disabilities, NOW,  | 
| 23 | THEREFORE, | 
| 24 |

| 25 | Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of  | 
| 26 | Florida: | 
| 27 | 
  | 
| 28 |      That RESPECT of Florida is recognized as a necessary,  | 
| 29 | viable, and valuable means for carrying out the state's policy  | 
| 30 | of promoting gainful employment for Floridians with  | 
| 31 | disabilities, including those with severe disabilities. |
