House Resolution
2A resolution recognizing RESPECT of Florida for promoting
3quality jobs for Floridians with disabilities.

5     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the State of Florida to
6encourage and assist individuals with disabilities, including
7those with severe disabilities, to achieve maximum personal
8independence through useful and productive employment, thus
9enhancing their dignity and minimizing their dependence on
10public support, and
11     WHEREAS, more than 70 percent of individuals in Florida
12with disabilities, including individuals with severe
13disabilities, are unemployed, and
14     WHEREAS, for more than 30 years, RESPECT of Florida has
15provided thousands of jobs for individuals whose disabilities
16range from relatively mild to severe, and
17     WHEREAS, RESPECT of Florida creates industries that
18contribute to the economies of local communities in the state,
19and
20     WHEREAS, RESPECT of Florida provides a valuable service to
21the state and is a nationally recognized model program for
22providing employment for persons with severe disabilities, NOW,
23THEREFORE,

25Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
26Florida:

28     That RESPECT of Florida is recognized as a necessary,
29viable, and valuable means for carrying out the state's policy
30of promoting gainful employment for Floridians with
31disabilities, including those with severe disabilities.
