| 11 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |
| 12 |
|
| 13 | Section 1. Section 1 of section 3 of chapter 2001-326, |
| 14 | Laws of Florida, is amended to read: |
| 15 | Section 1. There is hereby created a Board of Trustees to |
| 16 | be known as "Board of Trustees, Rupert J. Smith Law Library of |
| 17 | Saint Lucie County," which said board shall consist of five |
| 18 | three members; the membership of the said board shall consist of |
| 19 | a Circuit Judge who is a resident of Saint Lucie County, to be |
| 20 | designated by the Chief Judge of the Nineteenth Judicial |
| 21 | Circuit, one member of the Board of County Commissioners of |
| 22 | Saint Lucie County to be chosen by the said Board of County |
| 23 | Commissioners biennially, two and one active practicing |
| 24 | attorneys attorney who reside resides in Saint Lucie County, one |
| 25 | to be appointed by the president of the Saint Lucie County Bar |
| 26 | Association and one to be appointed by the president of the Port |
| 27 | Saint Lucie Bar Association, and a lay member to be appointed by |
| 28 | the president of the Friends of Saint Lucie County Library |
| 29 | Association, Inc. At the time this act takes effect, two |
| 30 | attorneys one attorney shall be appointed for a term of 1 year, |
| 31 | beginning on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in January |
| 32 | of each year. The Board of Trustees shall have full power and |
| 33 | authority to establish, operate, and maintain one or more law |
| 34 | library facilities within Saint Lucie County at such place or |
| 35 | places as may, from time to time, be designated by said Board of |
| 36 | Trustees; to prescribe rules and regulations as to its own |
| 37 | functions and organization; and to prescribe and enforce rules |
| 38 | and regulations as to the use, maintenance, and operation of |
| 39 | said law library. Said Board of Trustees shall purchase books, |
| 40 | furniture, equipment, and supplies either for cash or upon |
| 41 | retained title or other contracts that shall be payable solely |
| 42 | out of said law library fund and not otherwise. |
| 43 | Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law. |
