| 8 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |
| 9 |

| 10 | Section 1. On or before July 1, 2007, the Department of |
| 11 | Law Enforcement shall develop and implement a program to |
| 12 | conduct, at least biennially, a survey using a sonar scanning |
| 13 | system that generates highly detailed two-dimensional and three- |
| 14 | dimensional maps and charts of the underwater areas of each |
| 15 | deepwater seaport in this state that serves cargo or passenger |
| 16 | vessels. For purposes of this section, the term "deepwater |
| 17 | seaport" means each of the ports of Jacksonville, Port |
| 18 | Canaveral, Palm Beach, Port Everglades, Miami, Port Manatee, St. |
| 19 | Petersburg, Tampa, Panama City, Pensacola, Key West, and |
| 20 | Fernandina. |
| 21 | Section 2. The sum of $1.5 million is appropriated from |
| 22 | the General Revenue Fund to the Department of Law Enforcement to |
| 23 | administer this act. |
| 24 | Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 2006. |
