5insert:
6     Section 3.  Subsection (7) of section 1002.23, Florida
7Statutes, is amended to read:
8     1002.23  Family and School Partnership for Student
9Achievement Act.--
10     (7)  Each school district shall develop and disseminate a
11parent guide to successful student achievement, consistent with
12the guidelines of the Department of Education, which addresses
13what parents need to know about their child's educational
14progress and how parents can help their child to succeed in
15school. The guide must:
16     (a)  Be understandable to students and parents;
17     (b)  Be distributed to all parents, students, and school
18personnel at the beginning of each school year;
19     (c)  Be discussed at the beginning of each school year in
20meetings of students, parents, and teachers; and
21     (d)  Include information concerning services,
22opportunities, choices, academic standards, and student
23assessment; and
24     (e)  Provide detailed information regarding the causes,
25symptoms, and transmission of meningococcal disease and the
26availability, effectiveness, known contraindications, and
27appropriate age for the administration of any required or
28recommended vaccine against meningococcal disease, in accordance
29with the recommendations of the Advisory Committee on
30Immunization Practices of the United States Centers for Disease
31Control and Prevention.

33The parent guide may be included as a part of the code of
34student conduct that is required in s. 1006.07(2).
35     Section 4.  Subsection (6) of section 1002.42, Florida
36Statutes, is amended to read:
37     1002.42  Private schools.--
38     (6)  IMMUNIZATIONS.--The governing authority of each
39private school shall:
40     (a)  Require students to present a certification of
41immunization in accordance with the provisions of s. 1003.22(3)-
42(11).
43     (b)  Provide detailed information regarding the causes,
44symptoms, and transmission of meningococcal disease and the
45availability, effectiveness, known contraindications, and
46appropriate age for the administration of any required or
47recommended vaccine against meningococcal disease, in accordance
48with the recommendations of the Advisory Committee on
49Immunization Practices of the United States Centers for Disease
50Control and Prevention.
