  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to reporting of criminal

  3         violations; amending s. 456.066, F.S.;

  4         requiring the Department of Health or the

  5         appropriate board to report apparent violations

  6         of law to law enforcement agencies and apparent

  7         Medicaid fraud to the Medicaid Fraud Control

  8         Unit in the Department of Legal Affairs for

  9         prompt investigation; providing an effective

10         date.

12  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

13  

14         Section 1.  Section 456.066, Florida Statutes, is

15  amended to read:

16         456.066  Reporting Prosecution of criminal

17  violations.--The department or the appropriate board shall

18  report any apparent criminal violation of any statute relating

19  to the practice of a profession regulated by the department or

20  appropriate board to the proper law enforcement agency

21  prosecuting authority for prompt investigation prosecution.

22  The department or the appropriate board shall report any

23  apparent Medicaid fraud to the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit in

24  the Department of Legal Affairs for prompt investigation.

25         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2006.
