  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to homeland security; creating

  3         s. 16.61, F.S.; creating the Division of

  4         Homeland Security within the Office of the

  5         Attorney General; providing for the director of

  6         the division to be appointed by the Governor,

  7         subject to confirmation by the Senate;

  8         providing an effective date.

10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12         Section 1.  Section 16.61, Florida Statutes, is created

13  to read:

14         16.61  Division of Homeland Security.--

15         (1)  The Division of Homeland Security is created

16  within the Office of the Attorney General.

17         (2)  The director of the Division of Homeland Security

18  shall be appointed by the Governor, subject to confirmation by

19  the Senate, and shall serve at the pleasure of the Governor.

20         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2006.

23                          SENATE SUMMARY

24    Creates the Division of Homeland Security within the
