  1                      A bill to be entitled
  2         An act relating to the state courts system;
  3         requiring that a person holding a position in
  4         the state courts system which is funded by a
  5         county be an employee of the judicial circuit;
  6         requiring that the county be considered the
  7         employer for certain purposes; requiring a
  8         county to provide benefits to an employee of
  9         the state courts system in the same manner as
10         benefits are provided to any other employee of
11         the county; providing an effective date.

13  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

15         Section 1.  Any person holding a position in the state
16  courts system which is funded by a county pursuant to chapter
17  29, Florida Statutes, shall be an employee of the judicial
18  circuit, selected and retained at the will of the chief judge,
19  and under the direction, control, and supervision of the chief
20  judge. The county shall be considered the employer of the
21  employee for all other purposes, including, but not limited
22  to, those addressed in ss. 112.08(2)(a), 112.215, 121.021(10),
23  and 440.10, Florida Statutes. The county shall provide
24  benefits to the employee of the state courts system in the
25  same manner as it provides benefits to any other employee of
26  the county.
27         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2006.
