11 The Committee on Children and Families (Fasano) recommended
12 the following amendment:

14 Senate Amendment (with title amendment)
15 On page 36, line 4-6, delete those lines
16
17 and insert:
18 Section 26. Subsections (5) and (6) of s. 744.708,
19 Florida Statutes, are amended to read:
20 744.708 Reports and standards.--
21 (5)(a) Each office of public guardian shall undergo an
22 independent audit by a qualified certified public accountant
23 shall be performed at least every 2 years. The audit should
24 include an investigation into the practices of the office for
25 managing the person and property of the wards. A copy of the
26 audit report shall be submitted to the Statewide Public
27 Guardianship Office.
28 (b) In addition to regular monitoring activities, the
29 Statewide Public Guardianship Office shall conduct an
30 investigation into the practices of each office of public
31 guardian related to the management of each ward's personal

1 affairs and property. When feasible, the investigation shall
2 be conducted in conjunction with the financial audit of each
3 office.
4 (c) In addition, each the office of public guardian
5 shall be subject to audits or examinations by the Auditor
6 General and the Office of Program Policy Analysis and
7 Government Accountability pursuant to law.

12 On page 5, line 4, after the semicolon,
13
14 insert:
15 deleting a requirement that a certified public
16 accountant conduct a file review of each public
17 guardian; requiring the Statewide Public
18 Guardianship Office to investigate each public
19 guardian office;
