| 3 | 106.08, F.S.; prohibiting legislators, statewide |
| 4 | officeholders, and certain candidates from soliciting or |
| 5 | accepting contributions to or on behalf of a political |
| 6 | committee, committee of continuous existence, |
| 7 | electioneering communications organization, or any |
| 8 | organization described in s. 527 of the Internal Revenue |
| 9 | Code from controlling or coordinating or consulting with |
| 10 | any such committee or organization; providing exceptions; |
| 11 | providing penalties; providing an effective date. |

| 13 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |
| 14 |

| 15 | Section 1. Paragraph (c) is added to subsection (7) of |
| 16 | section 106.08, Florida Statutes, to read: |
| 17 | 106.08 Contributions; limitations on.-- |
| 18 | (7) |
| 19 | (c) A member of the Legislature, a statewide officeholder, |
| 20 | or a candidate for legislative or statewide office may not, |
| 21 | directly or indirectly, solicit, cause to be solicited, or |
| 22 | accept any contribution to or on behalf of a political |
| 23 | committee, committee of continuous existence, electioneering |
| 24 | communications organization, or, except for a political party or |
| 25 | campaign of the candidate, any organization described under s. |
| 26 | 527 of the Internal Revenue Code, and may not control or |
| 27 | coordinate or consult regarding the expenditure or raising of |
| 28 | funds for any such committee or organization. Notwithstanding |
| 29 | any other provision of this chapter, any person who knowingly |
| 30 | and willfully violates any provision of this paragraph commits a |
| 31 | felony of the third degree, punishable as provided in s. |
| 32 | 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084. |
| 33 | Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2007. |
