  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to surplus lines coverage;

  3         creating s. 626.9232, F.S.; requiring that

  4         surplus lines agents who sell surplus lines of

  5         homeowners' insurance provide customers, who

  6         also are eligible for coverage through Citizens

  7         Property Insurance Corporation, with a premium

  8         rate quote from Citizens Property Insurance

  9         Corporation before selling such a surplus lines

10         policy; providing an effective date.

12  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

14         Section 1.  Section 626.9232, Florida Statutes, is

15  created to read:

16         626.9232  Surplus lines of homeowners' insurance; quote

17  required.--Surplus lines agents who sell surplus lines of

18  homeowners' insurance must provide to all customers who are

19  eligible for coverage through Citizens Property Insurance

20  Corporation a premium rate quote from Citizens Property

21  Insurance Corporation before selling such a surplus lines

22  policy.

23         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

24  law.
