  2         An act relating to a review under the Open

  3         Government Sunset Review Act; amending s.

  4         383.51, F.S., relating to an exemption from

  5         public-records requirements provided with

  6         respect to the identity of a parent who leaves

  7         a newborn infant at a hospital, emergency

  8         medical services station, or fire station;

  9         saving the exemption from repeal under the Open

10         Government Sunset Review Act; deleting

11         provisions that provide for the repeal of the

12         exemption; providing an effective date.

14  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

15  

16         Section 1.  Section 383.51, Florida Statutes, is

17  amended to read:

18         383.51  Confidentiality; identification of parent

19  leaving newborn infant at hospital, emergency medical services

20  station, or fire station.--The identity of a parent who leaves

21  a newborn infant at a hospital, emergency medical services

22  station, or fire station in accordance with s. 383.50 is

23  confidential and exempt from the provisions of s. 119.07(1)

24  and s. 24(a), Art. I of the State Constitution. The identity

25  of a parent leaving a child shall be disclosed to a person

26  claiming to be a parent of the newborn infant. This section is

27  subject to the Open Government Sunset Review Act of 1995 in

28  accordance with s. 119.15, and shall stand repealed on October

29  2, 2007, unless reviewed and saved from repeal through

30  reenactment by the Legislature.
