  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to recruitment of persons to

  3         the Teach for America corps; amending s.

  4         1012.05, F.S.; requiring the Department of

  5         Education to work with the Teach for America

  6         organization and maximize recruitment to the

  7         Teach for America corps for placement in the

  8         public schools; providing an effective date.

10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11  

12         Section 1.  Paragraph (r) is added to subsection (2) of

13  section 1012.05, Florida Statutes, to read:

14         1012.05  Teacher recruitment and retention.--

15         (2)  The Department of Education shall:

16         (r)  Work with the Teach for America organization in

17  order to maximize the number of persons who are recruited to

18  the Teach for America corps and placed in the public schools

19  in this state.

20         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2007.
