| 1 | A bill to be entitled |
| 2 | An act relating to the assessed value of homestead real |
| 3 | property; providing for rolling back the assessed value of |
| 4 | homestead real property to the value of similar property |
| 5 | as of a certain date; providing for adjusting such value |
| 6 | from such date to the present by certain factors; |
| 7 | providing an effective date. |

| 9 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |
| 10 |

| 11 | Section 1. (1) Effective January 1, 2008, notwithstanding |
| 12 | any other provision of law, the assessed value of each homestead |
| 13 | real property in this state shall be rolled back to the assessed |
| 14 | value for a similar home in the same county for 1994 and then |
| 15 | the assessments shall be adjusted for each subsequent year as if |
| 16 | the limitations on assessments contained in s. 4(c), Art. VII of |
| 17 | the State Constitution had been continuously in effect since |
| 18 | January 1, 1995, and had been applied in each subsequent year. |
| 19 | The assessed value for 2009 and all subsequent years shall be |
| 20 | adjusted pursuant to the provisions of s. 4(c), Art. VII of the |
| 21 | State Constitution. |
| 22 | (2) Subsection (1) does not apply to ad valorem taxes |
| 23 | levied for the payment of bonds issued pursuant to s. 12, Art. |
| 24 | VII of the State Constitution or levied for periods not longer |
| 25 | than 2 years when authorized by a vote of the electors. |
| 26 | Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law. |
