3     Amendment (with title amendment)
4     Between line(s) 89-90, insert:
5     Section 2.  Subsection (3) is added to section 101.75,
6Florida Statutes, to read:
7     101.75  Municipal elections; change of dates for cause.--
8     (3)  Notwithstanding any provision of local law, for any
9municipality in which an election is scheduled to be held in
10March 2008, the governing body of the municipality,
11notwithstanding any municipal charter provision, may, by
12ordinance, move the date of the general municipal election in
132008 and in each subsequent year that is a multiple of 4 to the
14date during the respective year concurrent with the presidential
15preference primary. The dates for qualifying for the general
16municipal election moved by the passage of such an ordinance
17shall be specifically provided for in the ordinance and shall
18run for no less than 14 days. The term of office for any
19municipal official elected in an election under this subsection
20shall commence as provided by the relevant municipal charter,
21and the term of office for any elected municipal official whose
22term was due to expire in March 2008 shall expire as provided by
23the relevant municipal charter.
