| 2 | An act relating to the human papillomavirus; requiring the |
| 3 | Department of Health to adopt a rule adding the human |
| 4 | papillomavirus to the list of communicable diseases for |
| 5 | which immunizations are recommended; requiring that |
| 6 | certain parents or guardians must be provided information |
| 7 | concerning the human papillomavirus; requiring the |
| 8 | Department of Health to prescribe the information; |
| 9 | providing an effective date. |

| 11 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |
| 12 |

| 13 | Section 1. (1) No later than January 1, 2008, the |
| 14 | Department of Health shall adopt a rule adding the human |
| 15 | papillomavirus to the list of communicable diseases for which |
| 16 | immunizations are recommended. |
| 17 | (2) Beginning with the 2008-2009 school year, the parent |
| 18 | or guardian of each public school student entering grade 6 for |
| 19 | whom the human papillomavirus vaccine is approved by the United |
| 20 | States Food and Drug Administration must be provided information |
| 21 | by the school concerning the connection between the human |
| 22 | papillomavirus and cervical cancer and that a vaccine which |
| 23 | helps prevent human papillomavirus infection is available and |
| 24 | recommended to be given to females before they enter grade 8. |
| 25 | (3) The information required to be provided to the parents |
| 26 | or guardians of the students for whom the human papillomavirus |
| 27 | vaccine is approved and recommended shall be prescribed by the |
| 28 | Department of Health. |
| 29 | Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2007. |
