  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to local government lawsuits;

  3         amending ss. 125.01 and 166.021, F.S.;

  4         prohibiting counties and municipalities from

  5         using tax revenues to sue other local

  6         governments; providing an effective date.

  8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  9  

10         Section 1.  Subsection (8) is added to section 125.01,

11  Florida Statutes, to read:

12         125.01  Powers and duties.--

13         (8)  A county may not use any county revenues derived

14  from ad valorem taxes or any other tax to sue any county,

15  municipality, or special district.

16         Section 2.  Subsection (11) is added to section

17  166.021, Florida Statutes, to read:

18         166.021  Powers.--

19         (11)  A municipality may not use any municipal revenues

20  derived from ad valorem taxes or any other tax to sue any

21  county, municipality, or special district.

22         Section 3.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2007.
