| 4 | Central, Florida Atlantic, Florida Broward, and Greater | 
| 5 | Miami Regions on playing a vital role in improving the | 
| 6 | quality of life of people in Florida and the United | 
| 7 | States, in Israel and Palestine, and elsewhere in the | 
| 8 | world. |

| 10 | WHEREAS, Hadassah, the Women's Zionist Organization of | 
| 11 | America, the largest Zionist, largest Jewish, and largest | 
| 12 | women's membership organization in the country, was founded in | 
| 13 | 1912 by Henrietta Szold to help meet the medical needs of | 
| 14 | Palestinians, and | 
| 15 | WHEREAS, since that time, Hadassah has been a leading force | 
| 16 | in supporting Israel's medical needs through Mt. Scopus | 
| 17 | Hospital, Ein Karem Hospital, and various clinics across the | 
| 18 | country, and | 
| 19 | WHEREAS, Hadassah hospitals, in addition to serving as a | 
| 20 | model of peaceful coexistence in the Middle East, provide state- | 
| 21 | of-the-art health care to 600,000 patients a year, regardless of | 
| 22 | race, religion, or creed, and often treat the most critically | 
| 23 | wounded in the region's ongoing conflicts, and | 
| 24 | WHEREAS, in the United States, Hadassah women sold $200 | 
| 25 | million in United States World War II bonds as their first | 
| 26 | national domestic effort, and | 
| 27 | WHEREAS, since then, Hadassah women have been actively | 
| 28 | engaged in domestic health education programs on breast cancer | 
| 29 | and osteoporosis; voter registration efforts; Jewish education; | 
| 30 | grassroots advocacy on United States-Israel relations, Jewish | 
| 31 | communal concerns, and women's issues; humanitarian relief to | 
| 32 | distressed communities and countries; and volunteer work in | 
| 33 | literacy programs and at domestic violence shelters, and | 
| 34 | WHEREAS, nominated to receive the Nobel Peace Prize, the | 
| 35 | Hadassah Medical Organization is recognized for its excellence | 
| 36 | in promoting peace in the Middle East through its equal | 
| 37 | treatment for all people, including its care of more terror | 
| 38 | victims than any other medical center in the region, and, with | 
| 39 | its mixed staff of people of all faiths, for its serving as a | 
| 40 | model of cooperation and coexistence in its ongoing initiatives | 
| 41 | to create bridges for peace even throughout the intifada, and | 
| 42 | WHEREAS, on this day, Thursday, April 19, 2007, Hadassah | 
| 43 | women have gathered at the Capitol in Tallahassee to help | 
| 44 | educate Florida Legislators on the value of supporting embryonic | 
| 45 | stem cell research for all Floridians, NOW, THEREFORE, | 
| 46 |

| 47 | Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of | 
| 48 | Florida: |

| 50 | That the women of Hadassah from the Florida Central, | 
| 51 | Florida Atlantic, Florida Broward, and Greater Miami Regions are | 
| 52 | welcomed by their Representatives on this 19th day of April 2007 | 
| 53 | and are commended for their vital role in efforts aimed at | 
| 54 | improving the quality of life of people in Florida and the | 
| 55 | United States, in Israel and Palestine, and elsewhere in the | 
| 56 | world. |
