     Delete everything after the enacting clause

and insert:

     Section 1.  Subsection (12) of section 1004.445, Florida

7

Statutes, is amended to read:

     1004.445  Johnnie B. Byrd, Sr., Alzheimer's Center and

9

Research Institute.--

     (12) Beginning in the 2009-2010 fiscal year 2007-2008, the

11

sum of $0 $13.5 million is appropriated annually from recurring

12

funds in the General Revenue Fund to the Grants and Donations

13

Trust Fund within the Department of Elderly Affairs for the

14

Johnnie B. Byrd, Sr., Alzheimer's Center and Research Institute

15

at the University of South Florida for the purposes as provided

16

under paragraph (6)(a), conducting and supporting research,

17

providing institutional research grants and investigator-

18

initiated research grants, developing and operating integrated

19

data projects, and providing assistance to statutorily designated

20

memory disorder clinics as provided under s. 430.502. Not less

21

than 80 percent of the appropriated funds shall be expended for

22

these purposes, and not less than 20 percent of the appropriated

23

funds shall be expended for peer-reviewed investigator-initiated

24

research grants.

     Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

26

law.
