| 5 | specified programs for children and families in need of |
| 6 | services; providing an effective date. |

| 8 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |
| 9 |

| 10 | Section 1. Paragraph (d) is added to subsection (2) of |
| 11 | section 984.01, Florida Statutes, to read: |
| 12 | 984.01 Purposes and intent; personnel standards and |
| 13 | screening.-- |
| 14 | (2) The Department of Juvenile Justice or the Department |
| 15 | of Children and Family Services, as appropriate, may contract |
| 16 | with the Federal Government, other state departments and |
| 17 | agencies, county and municipal governments and agencies, public |
| 18 | and private agencies, and private individuals and corporations |
| 19 | in carrying out the purposes of, and the responsibilities |
| 20 | established in, this chapter. |
| 21 | (d) The Department of Juvenile Justice shall ensure that |
| 22 | an equitable percentage of all funding for nonresidential |
| 23 | children and families in need of services programs be used to |
| 24 | fund prevention resource programs in areas with a high volume of |
| 25 | juvenile arrests. Additionally, the recipient of such funds |
| 26 | shall demonstrate the inclusion of local nontraditional |
| 27 | delinquency prevention service providers, such as grassroots |
| 28 | organizations and community and faith-based organizations, in |
| 29 | the contracting and delivery of all programs in such areas. |
| 30 | Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2008. |
