A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to telecommunication service contracts;
3creating s. 364.193, F.S.; prohibiting certain
4telecommunications service companies, without the express
5written consent of the customer, from extending the length
6of a customer's telecommunications contract solely because
7the customer adds or removes any service, equipment, or
8phone from the contract; providing an effective date.

10Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12     Section 1.  Section 364.193, Florida Statutes, is created
13to read:
14     364.193  Telecommunications service contracts.--A
15telecommunications company, as defined in s. 364.02, or a
16commercial mobile radio services provider, as defined in 47
17C.F.R. s. 20.3, which provides telecommunications services and
18requires as a condition of receiving such services that the
19customer enter into a written telecommunications service
20contract may not extend the length of the contract beyond the
21initial contract period solely because the customer elects to
22add or remove any service, equipment, or phone from the
23telecommunications services contract. Any such contract may be
24extended only upon the express written consent of the customer.
25     Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2008.
