| 7 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |
| 8 |
|
| 9 | Section 1. Section 125.031, Florida Statutes, is amended |
| 10 | to read: |
| 11 | 125.031 Lease or lease-purchases of property for public |
| 12 | purposes.--Counties may enter into leases or lease-purchase |
| 13 | arrangements relating to properties needed for public purposes |
| 14 | for periods not to exceed 30 years at a stipulated rental to be |
| 15 | paid from current or other legally available funds and may make |
| 16 | all other contracts or agreements necessary or convenient to |
| 17 | carry out such objective. The county shall have the right to |
| 18 | enter into such leases or lease-purchase arrangements with |
| 19 | private individuals, other governmental agencies, or |
| 20 | corporations. When the term of such lease is for longer than 60 |
| 21 | months, the rental shall be payable only from funds arising from |
| 22 | sources other than ad valorem taxation. Such leases or lease- |
| 23 | purchase arrangements shall be subject to approval by the board |
| 24 | of county commissioners, and no such lease or lease-purchase |
| 25 | contract shall be entered into without said approval. |
| 26 | Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, a lease |
| 27 | entered into by a county with the state or another governmental |
| 28 | entity or authorized under the provisions of s. 125.01 shall not |
| 29 | be subject to the 30-year lease term limitation of this section. |
| 30 | Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2008. |
