| 7 | advisory against swimming in beach waters on the basis of |
| 8 | finding elevated levels of fecal coliform or enterococci |
| 9 | bacteria in a water sample, the department shall |
| 10 | contemporaneously notify the relevant local government and the |
| 11 | local office of the Department of Environmental Protection, |
| 12 | which shall promptly investigate wastewater treatment facilities |
| 13 | within 1 mile of the affected beach to determine if a facility |
| 14 | experienced an incident that may have contributed to the |
| 15 | contamination. Upon completion, the Department of Environmental |
| 16 | Protection shall notify the relevant local government in writing |
| 17 | or by electronic correspondence of the results of its |
| 18 | investigation. |
