An act relating to enterprise zones; creating s.

290.00725, F.S.; authorizing the City of Ocala to apply to

the Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development for

5

designation of an enterprise zone; providing an

6

application deadline; providing requirements for the area

7

of the enterprise zone; requiring the office to establish

8

the effective date of the enterprise zone; providing an

9

effective date.

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

     Section 1.  Section 290.00725, Florida Statutes, is created

14

to read:

     290.00725 Enterprise zone designation for the City of

16

Ocala.--The City of Ocala may apply to the Office of Tourism,

17

Trade, and Economic Development for designation of one enterprise

18

zone for an area within the western portion of the city, which

19

zone shall encompass an area up to 5 square miles. The

20

application must be submitted by December 31, 2008, and must

21

comply with the requirements of s. 290.0055. Notwithstanding s.

22

290.0065 limiting the total number of enterprise zones designated

23

and the number of enterprise zones within a population category,

24

the Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development may

25

designate one enterprise zone under this section. The Office of

26

Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development shall establish the

27

initial effective date of the enterprise zone designated pursuant

28

to this section.

     Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
