Senate Resolution

A resolution recognizing April 11, 2008, as "Grandparents

3

and Relative Caregivers Day" in the State of Florida.

     WHEREAS, our grandparents and relative caregivers are models

6

to us, shaping our character and principles and providing us with

7

unconditional love and support throughout our lifetimes, and

8

     WHEREAS, our grandparents and relative caregivers help

9

ensure that cultural traditions and timeless values are passed on

10

to future generations, and

11

     WHEREAS, with compassion and understanding, our grandparents

12

and relative caregivers contribute to our future by serving as a

13

source of strength in times of difficulty, encouragement in

14

moments of doubt, and empathy in periods of distress, and

15

     WHEREAS, because of the care provided by our grandparents

16

and relatives, we develop a sense of self-worth which assists us

17

in becoming well-adjusted, healthy adults, and

18

     WHEREAS, many grandparents and relatives selflessly step in

19

to raise children in difficult circumstances, and these dedicated

20

individuals deserve our respect and support, NOW, THEREFORE,

21

Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

23

     That the Florida Senate urges all Floridians to honor

25

grandparents and relative caregivers for the many valuable

26

contributions they make to the lives of our families and our

27

society and recognizes April 11, 2008, as "Grandparents and

28

Relative Caregivers Day" in the State of Florida.
