| 7 | a specified period; requiring that the board provide for |
| 8 | exceptions; authorizing persons who have completed |
| 9 | postdoctoral residency training to continue the practice |
| 10 | of psychology under certain circumstances; providing an |
| 11 | effective date. |

| 13 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |
| 14 |
|
| 15 | Section 1. Subsection (3) is added to section 490.005, |
| 16 | Florida Statutes, to read: |
| 17 | 490.005 Licensure by examination.-- |
| 18 | (3)(a) The board shall close the application file of any |
| 19 | applicant who fails to pass the psychology licensure examination |
| 20 | and the Florida law and rules portion of the examination or who |
| 21 | fails to submit evidence of completion of the postdoctoral, |
| 22 | supervised experience within a timeframe no longer than 24 |
| 23 | months. |
| 24 | (b) The board shall implement a procedure by which an |
| 25 | applicant may apply for an extension beyond the required |
| 26 | timeframe. |
| 27 | (c) An individual who completes the required postdoctoral |
| 28 | training residency may continue to practice under supervision if |
| 29 | she or he does so in a manner prescribed by the board by rule, |
| 30 | has a current application on file, and no final order of denial |
| 31 | has been issued. |
| 32 | Section 2. This act shall take effect January 1, 2009. |
