2A resolution recognizing February 6, 2008, as "Ronald
3Reagan Day" in Florida.

5     WHEREAS, President Ronald Wilson Reagan, a man of humble
6background, worked throughout his life serving freedom and
7advancing the public good, having been employed as an
8entertainer, union leader, and corporate spokesman and elected
9Governor of California and President of the United States, and
10     WHEREAS, Ronald Reagan served with honor and distinction
11for two terms as the 40th President of the United States of
12America and was elected to his second term by 3/5ths of the
13electorate and by 49 of the 50 states, a record unsurpassed in
14the history of American presidential elections, and
15     WHEREAS, in 1981, when Ronald Reagan was inaugurated
16President, he inherited a disillusioned nation that was shackled
17by rampant inflation and high unemployment, and
18     WHEREAS, during his presidency, Ronald Reagan worked in a
19bipartisan manner to enact his bold agenda of restoring
20accountability and common sense to the Federal Government, which
21led to unprecedented economic expansion and opportunity for
22millions of Americans, and
23     WHEREAS, President Reagan's commitment to an active social
24policy agenda for the nation's children helped to lower crime
25and reduce drug use in our neighborhoods, and
26     WHEREAS, President Reagan's commitment to our Armed Forces
27contributed to the restoration of pride in America, her values,
28and those cherished by the free world and prepared America's
29Armed Forces to meet the challenges of the 21st Century, and
30     WHEREAS, President Reagan's vision of "peace through
31strength" led to the end of the Cold War and the ultimate demise
32of the Soviet Union, guaranteeing basic human rights for
33millions of people, and
34     WHEREAS, February 6, 2008, will be the 96th anniversary of
35Ronald Reagan's birth and the fourth anniversary since his
36passing, NOW, THEREFORE,

38Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
39Florida:

41     That the House of Representatives pauses in its
42deliberations to honor the memory and accomplishments of
43President Ronald Wilson Reagan and to recognize February 6,
442008, as "Ronald Reagan Day" in the State of Florida.
