       The Committee on General Government Appropriations (Lawson)
       recommended the following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment (with directory and title amendments)
    2  
    3         Between lines 36 and 37
    4  insert:
    5         (4)Except for providers who are providing services
    6  pursuant to s. 395.1041 or part III of chapter 401, any provider
    7  who accepts an assignment pursuant to this section shall accept
    8  80 percent of the current Medicare fee schedule as payment in
    9  full for the services provided and may not bill or attempt to
   10  collect any balance of charges from the insured.

   13         And the directory clause is amended as follows:
   14         Delete lines 18 - 19
   15  and insert:
   16         Section 1. Subsection (2) of section 627.638, Florida
   17  Statutes, is amended, and a new subsection (4) is added to that
   18  section, to read:

   21         And the title is amended as follows:
   22         Delete line 14
   23  and insert:
   24         payment; requiring providers who accept an assignment
   25         of direct payment for medical services to accept a
   26         certain percentage of the Medicare fee schedule as
   27         payment in full; prohibiting those providers from
   28         collecting any balance of charges from the insured;
   29         providing an effective date.
