| 6 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |
| 7 |
|
| 8 | Section 1. Subsections (5) and (6) section 9 of chapter |
| 9 | 74-522, Laws of Florida, as amended by chapters 2007-320 and |
| 10 | 2008-276, Laws of Florida, are amended to read: |
| 11 | Section 9. Qualifications for employment.--The minimum |
| 12 | standards and qualifications for employment or reemployment as a |
| 13 | classified employee of the office of the Sheriff of Lee County, |
| 14 | shall be as follows: |
| 15 | (5) All applicants shall not have been convicted of a |
| 16 | felony of any kind or, a crime involving moral turpitude, or a |
| 17 | misdemeanor for which the penalty is greater than a $300 fine |
| 18 | and/or 90 days confinement. |
| 19 | (6) All applicants having military service must submit a |
| 20 | DD 214 indicating that their military service and discharge were |
| 21 | not under dishonorable conditions or reasons. Persons they have |
| 22 | received no less than an honorable discharge from any of the |
| 23 | Armed Forces of the United States. Applicants honorably |
| 24 | discharged from military service for medical conditions or |
| 25 | reasons must be able to perform all functions and essential |
| 26 | tasks of the position for which they are applying have applied. |
| 27 | Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law. |
