    1                          Senate Resolution                        
    2         A resolution honoring the outstanding academic,
    3         athletic, and humanitarian accomplishments of Myron L.
    4         Rolle.
    5  
    6         WHEREAS, Myron L. Rolle was recruited by Florida State
    7  University from the Hun School in Princeton, New Jersey, as the
    8  nation's Number One football recruit, and
    9         WHEREAS, Myron Rolle is recognized by football coaches and
   10  fans nationwide as a once-in-a-lifetime student athlete, having
   11  distinguished himself both on and off the field, and
   12         WHEREAS, Myron Rolle earned an undergraduate degree in pre
   13  med in just 2 and 1/2 years and is currently studying for a
   14  master's degree in public administration at Florida State
   15  University, and
   16         WHEREAS, Myron Rolle, as an undergraduate student at
   17  Florida State University, conceived and won financial support
   18  for a program that educates 5th grade students at Pemayety
   19  Emahaky Charter School for Seminole Indians, in Okeechobee, on
   20  physical fitness and health, and
   21         WHEREAS, Myron Rolle was, on November 22, 2008, awarded a
   22  prestigious Rhodes Scholarship, which will afford him the
   23  opportunity to study medical anthropology at Oxford University,
   24  thus furthering the pursuit of his dream of one day opening a
   25  medical clinic that will serve the poor in the Bahamas, and
   26         WHEREAS, Myron Rolle, in the first 22 years of his life,
   27  has consistently held himself to the highest standards,
   28  including that expressed in the Oxford University motto, Dominus
   29  illuminatio mea, “The Lord is My Light,” and exemplifies the
   30  qualities of mind and qualities of a person that, together,
   31  Oxford University recognizes as offering the promise of
   32  effective service to the world in the decades ahead, NOW,
   33  THEREFORE,

   35  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:
   36  
   37         That the Florida Senate commends Myron Rolle for the honor
   38  and pride he has brought to Florida State University and to our
   39  great state through his pursuit of excellence on the football
   40  field, in the classroom, in the community, and as a citizen of
   41  the world.
   42         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution, with
   43  the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to Myron Rolle as a
   44  tangible token of the sentiments of the Florida Senate.
