    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to postsecondary student fees;
    3         amending s. 1009.21, F.S.; providing that severely
    4         wounded active duty members or veterans of the Armed
    5         Services of the United States who are participants in
    6         the Wounded Warrior Project and enrolled at a
    7         community college or state college shall be classified
    8         as residents for tuition purposes; providing an
    9         effective date.

   11  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   12         
   13         Section 1. Paragraph (l) is added to subsection (10) of
   14  section 1009.21, Florida Statutes, to read:
   15         1009.21 Determination of resident status for tuition
   16  purposes.—Students shall be classified as residents or
   17  nonresidents for the purpose of assessing tuition in community
   18  colleges and state universities.
   19         (10) The following persons shall be classified as residents
   20  for tuition purposes:
   21         (l) Active duty members or veterans of the Armed Services
   22  of the United States who have been severely wounded, who are
   23  participants in the Wounded Warrior Project, who are in-state or
   24  out-of-state legal residents, and who are enrolled at a
   25  community college or state college.
   26         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2008.
