       The Committee on Transportation (Bullard) recommended the
       following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment (with title amendment)
    2  
    3         Delete lines 8 - 9
    4  and insert:
    5         Section 1. The Department of Transportation, in
    6  consultation with the Department of Law Enforcement, the
    7  Department of Environmental Protection, the Division of
    8  Emergency Management of the Department of Community Affairs, the
    9  Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development, affected
   10  metropolitan planning organizations, and regional planning
   11  councils within whose jurisdictional area the I-95 corridor
   12  lies, shall complete a study of transportation alternatives for
   13  the travel corridor parallel to Interstate 95 which takes into
   14  account the transportation, emergency management, homeland
   15  security, and economic development needs of the state. The
   16  report must include identification of cost-effective measures
   17  that may be implemented to alleviate congestion on Interstate
   18  95, facilitate emergency and security responses, and foster
   19  economic development. The Department of Transportation shall
   20  send the report to the Governor, the President of the Senate,
   21  the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and each affected
   22  metropolitan planning organization by June 30, 2010.

   27  and insert:
   28         An act relating to transportation; requiring the department
   29  to conduct a study of transportation alternatives for the
   30  Interstate 95 corridor; providing an effective date
