       The Committee on Education Pre-K - 12 (Wilson) recommended the
       following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment 
    2  
    3         Delete lines 54 - 65
    4  and insert:
    5         Section 2. The Palm Beach County School Board is directed
    6  and authorized to appropriate from funds of the school board not
    7  otherwise encumbered and draw warrants in the amount of $1
    8  million each fiscal year beginning in 2009-2010 through 2011
    9  2012, inclusive, and $900,000 in the 2012-2013 fiscal year,
   10  payable to Vincent Merriweather, as compensation for his
   11  injuries and damages.
   12         Section 3. The amount awarded in this act is intended to
   13  provide the sole compensation for all present and future claims
   14  against the Palm Beach County School Board arising out of the
   15  factual situation described in this act which resulted in
   16  injuries to Vincent Merriweather. The total amount paid for
   17  attorney’s fees, lobbying fees, costs, and other similar
   18  expenses relating to this claim may not exceed 25 percent of the
   19  total amount awarded under this act.
