    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to health facilities; amending s.
    3         154.205, F.S.; redefining the term “health facility”
    4         for the purpose of allowing additional types of health
    5         facilities to receive assistance from a health
    6         facilities authority; providing an effective date.

    8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
    9  
   10         Section 1. Subsection (8) of section 154.205, Florida
   11  Statutes, is amended to read:
   12         154.205 Definitions.—The following terms, whenever used in
   13  this part, shall have the following meanings unless a different
   14  meaning clearly appears from the context:
   15         (8) “Health facility” means any private corporation
   16  organized not for profit and authorized by law to provide:
   17         (a)Hospital services in accordance with chapter 395;
   18         (b)Nursing home care services in accordance with chapter
   19  400;
   20         (c)Life care services in accordance with chapter 651;
   21         (d)Services for the developmentally disabled under chapter
   22  393;
   23         (e)Services for the mentally ill under chapter 394;
   24         (f) Assisted living services in accordance with chapter
   25  429; or
   26         (g) Hospice services in accordance with chapter 400.

   28  The term also includes any private corporation organized not for
   29  profit which offers independent living facilities and services
   30  as part of a retirement community that provides nursing home
   31  care services or assisted living services on the same campus
   32  hospital or nursing home care services in accordance with
   33  chapter 395 or chapter 400 or life care services in accordance
   34  with chapter 651, and also includes facilities licensed under
   35  chapters 393 and 394.
   36         Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
