    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to enterprise zones; creating s.
    3         290.00725, F.S.; authorizing the City of Ocala to
    4         apply to the Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic
    5         Development for designation of an enterprise zone;
    6         providing an application deadline; providing
    7         requirements for the area of the enterprise zone;
    8         requiring that the office establish the initial
    9         effective date of the enterprise zone; providing an
   10         effective date.

   12  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   13         
   14         Section 1. Section 290.00725, Florida Statutes, is created
   15  to read:
   16         290.00725 Enterprise zone designation for the City of
   17  Ocala.—The City of Ocala may apply to the Office of Tourism,
   18  Trade, and Economic Development for designation of one
   19  enterprise zone for an area within the western portion of the
   20  city, which shall encompass an area up to 5 square miles. The
   21  application must be submitted by December 31, 2009, and must
   22  comply with the requirements of s. 290.0055. Notwithstanding s.
   23  290.0065, limiting the total number of enterprise zones
   24  designated and the number of enterprise zones within a
   25  population category, the Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic
   26  Development may designate one enterprise zone under this
   27  section. The Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development
   28  shall establish the initial effective date of the enterprise
   29  zone designated pursuant to this section.
   30         Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
