    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to drug paraphernalia sales surtax;
    3         providing for a surtax on the sale of specified drug
    4         paraphernalia; specifying uses of surtax proceeds;
    5         providing an effective date.

    7  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
    8         
    9         Section 1. A surtax of 25 percent shall be charged on any
   10  of the items listed in s. 893.145, Florida Statutes, regardless
   11  of whether such items are sold for legal purposes or in
   12  violation of the law. The proceeds of this surtax shall be
   13  designated for government drug abuse prevention and treatment
   14  programs.
   15         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2009.
