| 7 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |
| 8 |
|
| 9 | Section 1. Subsections (1), (30), (33), and (34) of |
| 10 | section 3 and subsection (1) of section 6 of chapter 2001-299, |
| 11 | Laws of Florida, are amended to read: |
| 12 | Section 3. Definitions.--As used in this act: |
| 13 | (1) "Basic life support ambulance" means any privately or |
| 14 | publicly owned vehicle, except those operated by any |
| 15 | municipality, that is designed, constructed, reconstructed, |
| 16 | maintained, equipped, or operated for and is used for or |
| 17 | intended to be used for transportation of a sick or injured |
| 18 | person persons requiring or likely to require medical attention |
| 19 | during transport by a qualified person persons through the use |
| 20 | of techniques such as patient assessment, cardiopulmonary |
| 21 | resuscitation, splinting, obstetrical assistance, bandaging, |
| 22 | administration of oxygen, application of medical anti-shock |
| 23 | trousers, administration of a subcutaneous injection using a |
| 24 | premeasured autoinjector of epinephrine to a person suffering an |
| 25 | anaphylactic analyphylactic reaction, and other techniques |
| 26 | described in the Emergency Medical Technician Basic Training |
| 27 | Course Curriculum of the United States Department of |
| 28 | Transportation or the Florida Department of Health and the |
| 29 | requirements of chapter 401, Florida Statutes. |
| 30 | (30) "Taxicab" means any motor-driven vehicle, equipped |
| 31 | with a taximeter, with a capacity for 9 or fewer less |
| 32 | passengers, including the driver, for the transportation of for |
| 33 | hire passengers, which operates within Hillsborough County, but |
| 34 | does not include sight-seeing cars or buses, streetcars, or |
| 35 | motor buses operated pursuant to a public franchise. |
| 36 | (33) "Van" means any motor-driven vehicle with a capacity |
| 37 | for of 10 to 15 passengers, including the driver, for the |
| 38 | transportation of for hire passengers, which operates within the |
| 39 | county but does not include sight-seeing cars and buses, |
| 40 | streetcars, motor buses operated pursuant to a public franchise, |
| 41 | or courtesy vans, and limousines not for hire. |
| 42 | (34) "Wrecker" means any truck or other privately owned |
| 43 | motor driven vehicle that is used to tow, carry, or otherwise |
| 44 | transport motor vehicles or vessels upon the streets and |
| 45 | highways of this state and that is equipped for that purpose |
| 46 | with a boom, winch, car carrier, or other similar equipment and |
| 47 | is in the recovery, towing, or removal of wrecked, disabled, |
| 48 | stolen, and abandoned motor vehicles and contracted for use by, |
| 49 | through, or for any unit of local, county, or state government, |
| 50 | and not authorized to transport passengers for hire or any |
| 51 | person regularly engaged in towing or storing vehicles or |
| 52 | vessels in Hillsborough County pursuant to section 715.07, |
| 53 | Florida Statutes. |
| 54 | Section 6. Commission staff.-- |
| 55 | (1) The commission may employ a director who shall, at as |
| 56 | a minimum, hold a bachelor's degree in public administration, |
| 57 | management, criminal justice, or a related field or and have 5 |
| 58 | years of executive, law enforcement, or management experience. |
| 59 | Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law. |
